Genshin Impact players spooked by survey asking about their monthly income
Genshin Impact periodically sends out surveys to its players to collect demographic data, feedback about the game and other information. Players who fill out these surveys are usually rewarded with Mora, the in-game currency. Recently, Japanese Genshin players have been voicing varied opinions about the latest survey, which asks you about how much you earn per month.
The captured survey question asks Genshin Impact players to choose the range in which their recent net monthly income falls, ranging from below $250 to over $5000. Thankfully, the survey does allow you to choose a “I would rather not say” option, but given the fact that Genshin Impact is a gacha game, users have been wondering about the implications of this question. Genshin players have half-jokingly suggested that depending on the survey’s results, miHoYo might attempt to “raise the ceiling” on them and up the prices.
Users have also expressed disagreement with the invasive nature of the question regardless of the motives behind it, commenting that different wording would have been more appropriate, for example: “How much money do you spend on hobbies monthly?”
Incidentally, players of the recently launched Wuthering Waves have also recently received a survey, which has prompted comparisons with the Genshin Impact survey, as the former contains more questions about the game’s quality and user experience, while the latter seems to be more focused on marketing and demographic data.
