Reynatis devs show off the game’s realistic Shibuya Scramble Crossing in new comparison video 

FuRyu’s upcoming magical action RPG Reynatis takes place in modern-day Tokyo, set in the metropolis’ famous Shibuya ward. On June 3, FuRyu released a video comparing an in-game environment from Reynatis with real-life footage of the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. It seems this clip is the start of a series of posts meant to showcase various in-game locations inspired by real places. 

The video comparison shows the real-life Shibuya transition smoothly into Reynatis’ realistic 3D environment. The layout of buildings, as well as actual brands and store names, are replicated in great detail. The developers have previously mentioned receiving cooperation from numerous brands to make sure game is as lifelike as possible.  

At the same time, the differences seen in the comparison are even more striking – the complete absence of cars or people in the normally high-traffic area, as well as the signs warning of a “semi-state of emergency related to the spread of magic” tell of Reynatis’ fantasy setting. In Reynatis, magic exists, and those who can use it are considered dangerous by the general public and forced to live in seclusion. An anti-magic law imposes a nighttime curfew on people. It will be interesting to see the various ways this setting reflects on the game’s realistic Tokyo-inspired environment. 

Reynatis is scheduled to be released for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5 on July 25.
