Persona 3 Reload OST storms up the charts in both Japan and the US
The Persona 3 Reload Soundtrack was released on a wide range of music streaming services and digital storefronts yesterday (namely Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and iTunes). The 62-track OST from the remake of Atlus’s 2006 RPG soared up the charts, as reported by an official Persona account on X.
As the post reveals, the OST has reached No.3 and No.5 on iTunes album chart in Japan and the USA respectively. In addition, it has reached No. 2 in Russia, No. 7 in Australia and No. 8 in the UK, with total numbers taking it up to No.9 on the worldwide iTunes album chart for April 24. It did not chart in the top 200 albums on Apple Music however, possibly suggesting that Persona fans prefer to buy rather than stream the soundtrack. Persona 3 Reload’s OST is mostly based on the original game’s music, with many of the tracks being remastered and remixed, and the songs featuring new vocals.
This response to P3R’s soundtrack debut on digital platforms provides more evidence to suggest that there is great demand for video game soundtrack availability. The positive reaction from the sound director and fans to Katamari Damacy’s original soundtrack finally becoming available via digital music storefronts and streaming services back in March this year was also indicative of this.
At the same time, Atlus West’s announcement of the P3R OST’s digital release also received numerous comments on X calling for a vinyl or CD edition, proving that there are still game music aficionados who value physical releases.
The game Persona 3 Reload is out now on PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series S|X and PC (Steam).
