Capcom asks fans what old games they want to see revived, exciting options include Breath of Fire
Capcom launched the “Capcom Super Elections” on February 6. The Super Elections are being hosted on Capcom Town, the official website commemorating the company’s 40-year-anniversary. The potential remakes suggested in the survey are giving fans of Capcom’s older titles a lot to be excited about.
The Capcom Super Elections consist of a 10-question user survey. Those who answer will receive a free customized wallpaper, and responders from certain countries will be eligible to win art catalogues and other Capcom merch via raffle.
The survey asks questions on things like your favorite Capcom title and character, as well as your opinions on Capcom’s games, but gamers were especially thrilled to see questions that seem to be gauging interest in future sequels and remakes of existing IPs.
The question “Are there any Capcom game series (including spinoff games) that you would like to see get a sequel or new game?” offers 20 possible answers, including Ace Attorney, Devil May Cry, Breath of Fire, Monster Hunter, and Dragon’s Dogma. On the other hand, the question, “Is there a game that you would like to see completely remade with the latest technology, including character design and story direction?” offers the following options:
Onimusha 1, 2 and 3
Ace Attorney 1, 2 and 3
Commando
Rival Schools
Quiz Nanairo Dreams
Final Fight
Breath of Fire 1,2 and 3
Gargoyle’s Quest 1,2 and 3
Megaman 1, 2 and 3
In response to the elections, users have been passionately appealing to communities, urging them to vote for certain titles in the hope that this will get Capcom’s attention. On Japanese X (Twitter), the hashtag “Breath of Fire” started trending as hype formed around a potential sequel/remake of the series. This was even acknowledged by the official Capcom Town account, which posted a screenshot and called for fans to visit the Retro Games corner of the Capcom Town website.
The Capcom Super Elections can be accessed via Capcom Town. The site also includes a virtual arcade where you can play old Capcom classics, including the recently added Breath of Fire II, Final Fight 2, and Captain Commando.
