Monster Hunter beasts find dream homes in bizarre collaboration with Japanese realtor 

Japanese real estate company SUUMO and Monster Hunter will feature in an unlikely collaboration starting on February 5. Featuring SUUMO’s fluffy green alien mascot helping various monsters from Capcom’s series to find their dream home, the advertisements will appear in major train stations in Tokyo and Osaka starting on February 5 (source: Famitsu). 

SUUMO is a real estate company that operates the largest property listing site in Japan. The site allows you to narrow down your search by selecting not only the location and train line but also by ticking various checkboxes related to what you are looking for in an apartment or house. This seems to be the feature that SUUMO wishes to highlight in its new ad campaign. 

The advertisements feature various monsters from the Monster Hunter universe, which celebrates its 20^th anniversary this year. It’s unclear whether they are looking to buy or to let, but they certainly have some very specific requirements.

Let’s start with Rajang. The thunder-elemental beast that was introduced in Monster Hunter 2 has managed to find its ideal residence by choosing the following search terms- “topmost floor,” “autolock,” “musical instruments allowed” and “soundproof room.” Given Rajang’s tendencies to be very violent and loud, the apartment’s security features and soundproofing are probably for the benefit of other residents. 

On the other hand, a cute and friendly cat-like Felyne seems to have found an idyllic location. The property is of course “pets allowed.” It is also “south-facing,” which should suit Felyne’s farming tendencies.  It has a “reheating bath” and “under floor storage” as well as a “building manager,” as everyone knows that pet cats need slaves, I mean owners. 

Next, we have a hungry-looking Khezu. We hope it is happy with its “corner room,” which is also “soundproof” and “barrier-free,” and in a “designer building” no less. To be on the safe side, fluffy green Suumo is making a hasty retreat. 

The Suumo mascot seems more confident in showing Rathalos its new digs. The “balcony included,” “security camera” and “heated floors” should suit this fire wyvern. It’s also “available for immediate move-in” and “DIY allowed” so maybe Rathalos can do some decorating with its talons? 

Monster Hunter Rise is available now on PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One/Series S|X and PC. Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025.
