Revealed: Palworld glitch exploits let you travel in style 

Open world survival and monster catching/taming game Palworld was released in open access on January 19, with sales on Steam quickly hitting a staggering 4 million units. Created by Japanese developer PocketPair, the game has been an instant hit worldwide with a high of 1.58 million concurrent players on Steam at the time of writing. In a game that can be all about exploiting your cute little Pals (if you are feeling mean…), it’s no wonder that the large active player base is already coming up with techniques to exploit glitches. Here, we detail some of our favorite ways of using glitches to move around efficiently and speedily, even at the start of the game, when you have nothing but basic equipment! 

Perhaps the easiest of these to reproduce is a handy ascending technique using a Pal Sphere. In the game, Pal Spheres can be used to capture Pals and humans. If you stand on top of a Pal Sphere after successfully imprisoning a Pal inside, it will shoot up into the sky for some reason. Therefore, it is possible to exploit this glitch and use Pal Spheres to catapult yourself into the air. This technique is useful if you want to check out your surroundings from high up in the air or climb a steep cliff. 

However, it’s best to be prepared for a rough landing when trying out this exploit. What goes up must come down, and this is true for Pal Spheres too. After zooming up into the air, you and your sphere will come crashing down to earth. To avoid fall damage, it’s a good idea to prepare a safe landing in advance- such as a normal parachute or a glider Pal like Celaray. See our video below to help you judge the timing for performing the Pal Sphere jumping technique.

Gliding allows you to take to the skies and travel around the world in Palworld. However, gliding is not much faster than running and uses up stamina, limiting the distance that you can fly. These gliding drawbacks are particularly evident in the early stages of the game, before you unlock better gliders. But don’t worry, we have you covered with a technique that will allow you to glide faster! Enter physics and the power of inertia. If you build up speed by sliding down a hill and then open your glider while in motion, you can fly much faster across a greater distance. 

A version of this fast-gliding technique can also be pulled off with the grappling gun. Shooting the grappling gun at a piece of the terrain that you want to travel to will quickly take you there. However, it is normally impossible to control your movement while you are zooming along the rope to your target. Also, it is not possible to open the glider at this speed. However, the author of this article has uncovered a crafty technique which uses the grappling gun to propel your glider through the air! While travelling with the grappling gun, it is possible to quickly change the tool in your hand to a different tool. This cancels the grappling gun, allowing you to speedily switch to your glider and glide at the same speed as you were travelling with the grappling gun. These exploits let you glide at high speed even in the early stages of the game! Our video below shows how much faster these techniques will allow you to glide. 

Even when exploiting inertia (the tendency of objects moving in a particular direction to stay in motion), the speed and distance you travel while gliding still depends on the performance of the Pals or the equipment you use. Naturally, a Giga Glider will get you further than a Normal Parachute. As a method of transport, gliding has its quirks and is not suitable for things like detailed explorations of your surroundings. However, it can be very useful when you want to quickly travel from a fast-travel point to a location some distance away. The grappling gun is also a handy way to travel if your inventory is overweight.  

In our exclusive interview with Takuro Mizobe, the CEO of Palworld’s developer PocketPair, he talked about removing disadvantageous bugs from the game but leaving in the fun ones that players can use. Players of PocketPair’s previous game Craftopia also came up with various ways to turn interesting bugs into techniques. With Palworld only just being released on January 19, it’s likely that players will discover even more interesting techniques and ways of playing the game. 

Palworld is available in early access for the PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
