Cult Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle gets official Roblox version
Japanese TV station TBS Television announced the release of an official game based on their variety program Takeshi’s Castle on September 1. The game’s supported platform is Roblox. The title is an action game in which players take on the Takeshi challenges via metaverse. The alpha version of the game had been available previously on Roblox.
Takeshi’s Castle is a Japanese game show which began airing in 1986, in which viewers volunteered to take on physical challenges set up by comedian Beat Takeshi, the “count” of the castle. Incidentally, the show was recently revived, with new episodes of Takeshi’s Castle being released this year on Amazon Prime Video.
The new Takeshi’s Castle game by TBS features the various famous challenges of the actual show, such as Dragon God’s Pond, in which players use stepping stones to cross a pond, some of which sink when stepped on, Daruma-San is Falling Down, in which players climb up a hill while wearing oversized costumes and try not to have their movements detected, and Wall to Freedom Becomes Far, in which players crash into multiple doors trying to find one made of paper which they can go through. Other games include Study the Cards Game, Beach Boys and Gals, and Cart Battle. Beginning September 7, a new challenge, Ball Run, will be added as well.
The challenges in this party game are a battle for survival where players try to be the first to reach the finish line. In the final “Cart Battle,” the surviving players charge at the boss in carts and fight to defeat him using beam attacks. The newly released game is somewhat reminiscent of the battle royale game Fall Guys, and Fall Guys was coincidentally inspired by the original Takeshi’s castle show.
Takeshi’s Castle utilizes the online game platform Roblox, and it can be played via PC and iOS/Android devices. The game was developed by GeekOut, a development company that specializes in metaverse solutions and has many Roblox titles behind them.
Takeshi’s Castle is currently free to play on Roblox. The game is available on PC and other iOS/Android mobile and tablet devices that support Roblox.
