Japan gets a new gaming credit card with the Saison Gaming Card Digital

Credit Saison has announced that the Saison Gaming Card Digital, a credit card aimed at gamers, will soon be available in Japan. Applications for the card will open on September 12.

Credit Saison had previously offered the Saison Gaming Card which launched in December 2020. The card was based on the concept of a credit card made for gamers. The Saison Gaming Card Digital is a revamped version of the card that has undergone a variety of changes. The card is now a Visa instead of a Mastercard, it has a new design, the UI/UX of the companion app has been overhauled, and more.

The main feature of the Saison Gaming Card Digital is the ability to collect and use Gaming Coins (GC). Every time you make a purchase, you will receive 1GC for every 100 yen (around $0.73) that you spend (including tax). By using the member-exclusive Saison Gaming Card App, collected GC can be exchanged for a variety of gift cards or gaming related goods.

Different prepaid cards that are available include PlayStation Store, Apple, Google Play, and Amazon gift cards. Examples of other gaming related items are PC accessories like gaming mice and headsets, energy drinks, and snacks.

In addition, gift cards purchased on STOREE SAISON, an online store exclusively for Saison Card members, will accrue extra GC. For instance, purchasing a PlayStation Store gift card will give 1% extra in GC.

One of the other changes is that the new card can now function as a digital card. The card will be available to use within the Saison Gaming Card App in as little as five minutes after your application is approved. A plastic card will still be delivered to you at a later date. This physical card is completely numberless and does not display information such as card number, expiry date, or security code.

The Saison Gaming Card App has an improved UI/UX and new functionality on top of what was included in the previous version. You will be able to confirm your card number, receive push notifications whenever your card is used, and more.
