CRI Middleware has announced that their products sold under the CRIWARE brand now support Unreal Engine 5.

Unreal Engine 5, Epic Games’ real-time 3D creation tool, officially launched earlier this month. CRI Middleware states that by supporting Unreal Engine 5 and with the company’s optimization technology tailored for all kinds of hardware, they are now capable of providing creators with ways to create more immersive content than before.

CRI Middleware provides a wide array of audio and video-related middleware under the CRIWARE brand, including CRI ADX, an easy-to-use audio middleware, and CRI Sofdec, a feature-rich, multi-platform movie playback system. CRIWARE products have been used in a number of video games, so many of you might have seen their name or logo before. CRIWARE’s list of supported game engines now includes Unreal Engine 5, on top of the already supported Unreal Engine 4.

Unreal Engine 5 is capable of enriching the visual presentation of content, and CRI Middleware says that the user experience can be further enhanced by incorporating various methods of audio expression, citing how CRIWARE can support the creation of interactive audio that reacts to user input, and 3D soundscape, which adds immersion and lets users feel like they’re actually inside a virtual space.

CRI Middleware plans to update CRIWARE products to make them easier to work with UE5-specific features, commenting that they’ll continue to provide technologies that will enable the creation of more efficient and high-quality content in all kinds of fields, including video games, film production, and the metaverse.

CRIWARE users can download the latest SDK from the official technical support page.
