Acquire has announced Kamiwaza Tourai for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. It’s a remastered version of the original PS2 game Kamiwaza that was released in Japan back in 2006.

Kamiwaza Tourai is a stealth game that takes place in the late Edo period Japan. You play as a bandit named Ebizou who steals from the rich and gives to the poor, trying to help his daughter recover from illness.

Ebizo sets out to steal from various places such as merchants’ houses, safes, and warehouses. Pickpocketing from a target is an option as well, but do remember to stay out of the enemy’s sight, as Ebizo is a righteous bandit who promised himself not to kill. He can’t just murder everyone to escape. There are some combat options, though. For example, the more he steals, the larger and heavier his bag gets, which can be used as a weapon to temporarily stun an enemy.

Ebizo will meet a variety of characters along the way, and the story will change depending on the choices you make.

The newly announced remastered version will retain the original game’s atmosphere while making various improvements and adding new features like auto-save. It’ll also feature full HD resolution and refined textures.

Kamiwaza Tourai is scheduled to come out this fall.
