The game has since earned a \u201cVery Positive\u201d rating on the platform, with 97% of reviews being positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Blending visual novel-style story sequences with top-down adventure gameplay, the game follows the life of hardcore otaku Jin Da-yeon, a mega fan of the fictional Japanese game Idol\u2606Star. Upon learning that a series of limited-edition perfumes themed around the game\u2019s characters are set to be released in Japan, Da-yeon collects $5,000 from like-minded fans online with the intent of placing a bulk import order and distributing the perfumes accordingly. Unfortunately, her lack of impulse control causes her to blow the entire fund on personal expenses, and she now has a scant 14-days to earn back the money before the order deadline by whatever means necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1367\" height=\"765\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1367px) 100vw, 1367px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-002.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-67408\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-002.jpg 1367w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-002-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-002-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Doomed Otaku\u2019s satirical take on South Korean geek subculture takes a two-pronged approach. The real-world setting depicted as a monochromatic, dreary, somewhat mysterious place that demands Social Points (SP) for Da-yeon to navigate. Meanwhile, the online world of the internet is depicted as a candy-colored fever dream, full of wacky characters and unpredictable happenings. It\u2019s up to the player how to split Da-yeon\u2019s time between these two worlds, as both provide ample opportunities for fundraising and interactions with the game\u2019s diverse supporting cast that can send the story spiraling in any number of unexpected directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Developer KiwiSaurus notes that Doomed Otaku\u2019s massive story and expressive artwork was created entirely by hand, with absolutely no usage of generative AI in the creative process \u2013 although some AI-powered assistance was used for programming, all final work was thoroughly reviewed by human developers. The game features a script of approximately 400,000 characters, complemented by 141 original CGs and 400 unique standing character portraits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1437\" height=\"805\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1437px) 100vw, 1437px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-header.jpg\" alt=\"Doomed Otaku\" class=\"wp-image-67406\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-header.jpg 1437w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-header-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/20260529-67403-header-768x430.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With over 20 possible endings, Doomed Otaku is designed to keep players engaged over multiple playthroughs, with an estimated play time of 15 hours to reach the true ending.
