The announcement follows numerous requests from fans for a physical copy of the game, which was released digitally on September 9 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/4659620\/Touhou_Koumakyou_New_Classic__the_Embodiment_of_Scarlet_Devil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steam<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the original game\u2019s creator, ZUN, the dev team hadn&#8217;t planned to ship physical copies of the game. However, \u201castonishing\u201d fan demand pushed them to change their minds, and they were able to get physical copies ready for shipping before the year\u2019s end (<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/korindo\/status\/2110573225432547600?s=20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">via X<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic &#8211; the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil physical edition comes with reversible cover art in the style of the original 2002 game, character and bullet pattern stickers, a &#8220;Marisa\u2019s Guide to Resolving Anomalies\u201d booklet, and a download code for a soundtrack player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1491\" height=\"842\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1491px) 100vw, 1491px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261015-73812-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-73816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261015-73812-001.jpg 1491w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261015-73812-001-380x215.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261015-73812-001-767x433.jpg 767w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Just like the digital version, the physical edition of Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic &#8211; the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/touhou-koumakyou-remake-and-original-to-release-separately-contrary-to-original-plans-remake-owners-get-the-original-for-free\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">includes both the remake and the original game<\/a>, with the latter titled \u201cTouhou Koumakyou: Classic ~ The Embodiment of Scarlet Devil\u201d (the original game is included in a download code). While Touhou Koumakyou: Classic cannot be purchased as a standalone game, replays and save data from the 23-year-old original (its Ver. 1.02H, to be exact) <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/touhou-koumakyou-classic-somehow-lets-you-carry-over-save-data-from-the-original-game-from-23-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">can be transferred over to the<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/touhou-koumakyou-classic-somehow-lets-you-carry-over-save-data-from-the-original-game-from-23-years-ago\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Classic version<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic &#8211; the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil is available on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/4659620\/Touhou_Koumakyou_New_Classic__the_Embodiment_of_Scarlet_Devil\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Steam<\/a>). The Classic version only supports Japanese.
