The dev was forced to give up \u201cadult content patches\u201d for past games"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Takii Noame, a Japanese indie game developer specializing in yuri visual novels, announced on October 4 that they have resumed work on Watamari Part 2 &#8211; A Fake Marriage?. The game had been <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/japanese-yuri-game-developer-forced-to-delay-new-title-after-banks-reject-steam-revenue-transfers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">delayed indefinitely back in August<\/a>, after the developer\u2019s bank blocked revenue transactions related to all of their past Steam games. In a blog update on <a href=\"https:\/\/note.com\/takii_noame\/n\/n18819367ffb9?\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Note<\/a>, Takii Noame wrote about their \u201cdebanking\u201d ordeal and how they dealt with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a recipe for anyone who was happily making a new yuri game,\u201d they write, \u201conly to have their Steam sales blocked by their bank for some reason, completely throwing their schedule into disarray near the end of development and leaving them feeling like they\u2019re going to throw up.\u201d According to Takii Noame, their problems started when they saw an influx of revenue from their Steam releases due to a sale, which caused their bank\u2019s automated checks to flag them for suspected money laundering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From there, Takii Noame was accused of violating the bank\u2019s terms, which the bank (SBI Shinsei Bank) attributed to \u201cadult content patches\u201d they\u2019d released for their past yuri titles (releasing external patches that restore adult content in Steam games is a common practice among eroge publishers). Back in their August announcement, the developer also mentioned that even asking their publisher to send them revenue related only to all-ages games through Japan\u2019s Post Bank was met with rejection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1529\" height=\"859\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1529px) 100vw, 1529px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261006-73421-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-73424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261006-73421-001.jpg 1529w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261006-73421-001-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/20261006-73421-001-767x431.jpg 767w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To deal with the issue, they were asked to submit a \u201chuge amount of documentation\u201d by their bank, which is why they ultimately decided to postpone the release of Watamari\u2019s sequel. \u201cI had to tear apart the schedules of all the contractors whose availability I\u2019d painstakingly coordinated, apologize to everyone who had been working with me to keep things on track, and reschedule everything,\u201d they write.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, as the developer goes on to advise peers dealing with similar issues, \u201cspending time preparing all those documents is completely pointless.\u201d Ultimately, Takii Noame says the problem was only resolved after they changed banks and begrudgingly gave up on adult patches for their past yuri games. They express sympathy for developers whose games are entirely focused on adult content, saying \u201call you can do is pray.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a brighter note, development on <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/3874910\/Watamari_Part2__A_Fake_Marriage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Watamari Part 2 &#8211; A Fake Marriage?<\/a> has now fully resumed, with the developer planning to announce a new release date soon.
