And it seems like Masahiro Sakurai, director of <em>Super Smash Bros. Ultimate<\/em>, is now trying to play the game, but by himself. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sakurai tweeted out saying maybe it\u2019s not impossible to play the game solo. It\u2019s a co-op only game where each player controls one of the two main characters and must corporate in order to get through meticulously crafted puzzles and platforming sections. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a Friend&#8217;s Pass system that allows the person who bought the game to invite a person who doesn\u2019t own the game to join and play for free. It\u2019s the kind of game you would normally play with your friend or a family member instead of a complete stranger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"It Takes Two \u2013 Official Gameplay Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GAWHzGNcTEw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, you can\u2019t play the game if you don&#8217;t have someone else to play with. Unless you can control two characters at once like Sakurai. His tweet shows how the game can be played solo by using two PS5 DualSense controllers simultaneously. That\u2019s not something everyone can do, and likely not a desirable way to experience the game, but at least a neat workaround that takes advantage of his own skillsets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sakurai has demonstrated numerous times in the past &#8220;Mr. Sakurai Presents&#8221; showcases that he can actually use two controllers at once, sometimes drawing laughter from the staff and viewers. In fact, sights of him using two controllers at once can be seen even in the <em>Super Smash Bros. Brawl<\/em> era (<a href=\"https:\/\/game.watch.impress.co.jp\/docs\/20080224\/gdc_sma.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GAME Watch<\/a>). In a sense, Sakurai is a veteran at this, and maybe he made the tweet as a self-aware joke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u3010\u30b9\u30de\u30d6\u30e9SP\u3011\u30d0\u30f3\u30b8\u30e7\u30fc&amp;\u30ab\u30ba\u30fc\u30a4\u306e\u3064\u304b\u3044\u304b\u305f\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D-1suPyyQ60?start=1100&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><em>It Takes Two<\/em> was developed with two players in mind, and it requires a lot of delicate controls with its platforming and shooting sections. I (the original author of this article) tried to play it solo myself by testing out the Sakurai method, but failed to do so. It was difficult to even keep track of the two characters on the left and right sides of the screen at the same time. There\u2019s a lot of information to take in for a single person. That said, I\u2019m just a novice at this. So don&#8217;t get your hopes up. It\u2019s likely much easier to find a person to play the game with. <em>It Takes Two<\/em> is worth the hassle and you should definitely check it out if you and the other have the time. It\u2019s a game that requires a lot of teamwork and is a great way to bond with your friend or a family member.
