Alongside Japanese publisher AUGUST\u2019s announcement<\/a> of Uta Macross<\/strong>, an upcoming one-time purchase version of the now-defunct mobile rhythm game Uta Macross: Smartphone De-Culture, it was disclosed that a Campfire crowdfunding campaign<\/a> to support the game’s development would be held from September 10 to October 31. The campaign achieved its target of 30 million JPY (roughly $195k USD) within the first hour and, in just three days, raised over 100 million JPY<\/a> ($650K USD) in funding, unlocking several stretch goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scheduled to release around Spring 2027 exclusively in Japan (for the time being), Uta Macross retains much of the original game content (including the 3D live performance scenes and exclusive illustrations) while adding new features such as improved UI elements and keyboard and mouse support. The base game includes 50 songs, more than 20 costumes for each songstress (all of whom have maxed-out stats from the beginning), and over 1,000 Plates (collectible equipment cards) of 4-star rarity or higher. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original live service version\u2019s gacha system, which was used to upgrade the rarity of your Plates, is still present in the offline version but with unlimited free draws. Several DLCs are also planned, which include additional songs, Plates, and costumes from Smartphone De-Culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Campfire campaign page currently has four confirmed stretch goals, with more being added as crowdfunding hits new milestones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon reaching its initial goal of 30 million JPY ($195k USD), Uta Macross is officially confirmed to release for Windows (Steam), iOS, and Android (the base platforms that were planned for the game). Reaching 75 million JPY ($487k USD) has allowed for the development of a home console version (the campaign wasn\u2019t specific about which one\/s), which will release at a later date. It was confirmed at 90 million JPY ($585k USD) that more songs would be added to the Uta Macross Super Dimension 3D miniLIVE event mode. Finally, reaching 100 million JPY ($650K USD) has allowed for new songs that were not available in Smartphone De-Culture to be added to the offline version via DLC (which will be sold after the game\u2019s release).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uta Macross is set to release in Spring 2027 for Windows (Steam<\/a>), iOS and Android. A console release is also planned down the line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
