Nippon Ichi Software (NIS) recently revised its consolidated financial forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, predicting a significant increase in revenue and return to profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a sharp bounce back from the previous year, the company predicts a 50.1% year-on-year rise in net sales, operating profit of 715 million yen (141.4% rise year-over-year), ordinary profit of 906 million yen (101.7% rise year-over-year), and net profit of 718 million yen (116.8% rise year over year), as reported by GameBiz.<\/a> Following this news, the company saw a significant stock rebound<\/a> on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on August 31, with shares temporarily hitting the upper limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s strong financial results were largely thanks to booming sales of NIS\u2019s latest title, Village in the Shade. The farming simulator released in Japan on July 30, selling over 100,000 units in less than five days<\/a>, with physical editions going out of stock across numerous domestic retailers. As of late August, the game has sold an additional 50k units. This number is expected to increase even further after the global version of Village in the Shade launches on October 27.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In light of this, it seems like NIS\u2019s IP strategy is finally starting to pay off. The company\u2019s huge financial losses in 2025 stemmed from their decision to shift from contract work for other developers to working on original games<\/a>. Specifically, NIS suggested that it had pulled out of or scaled down on some of its co-development work for clients in order to prioritize making original IP content. With the company releasing several new games across these past two years, and a few more titles waiting to be released until the end of 2026 (most notably, GOBBLE in September and Prinny Party: Going Overboard! in December) it will be interesting to see how the pursuit of more original projects will affect the company\u2019s overall performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
