Cover, the company that operates VTuber agency hololive, recently updated its derivative works guidelines<\/a>. On top of standard regulations that protect the company and its affiliated talents, a new section discouraging acts of vigilantism, particularly on social media, was included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even if you discover actions that you believe violate these guidelines, please refrain from using this as a reason to attack, condemn, or publicly expose other fans and participants on social media. If you encounter an issue, please consult the event organizers, use the reporting features of the respective platforms, or reach out to our official inquiry desk. We ask for your cooperation in preventing harassment and vigilante behavior among participants.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As much as hololive poses strict rules on fan creations, it is no fan of online harassment, and this new clause appears to be an attempt to battle the \u201cwitch hunts\u201d among fans often seen on social media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a related note, in May 2024, Cover teamed up with ANYCOLOR (the company behind Nijisanji) and VTuber management company Uuum to form a subcommittee<\/a> dedicated to preventing and dealing with the slander and defamation of VTubers, YouTubers, and influencers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to discouraging vigilantism, hololive states that it won\u2019t be liable for disputes that arise from the use of its content or related derivative works. It also won\u2019t respond to individual queries regarding specific cases, the company\u2019s criteria for judgement, or any related questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
