SNK Entertainment was officially dissolved as of August 20, as reported in Japan\u2019s government gazette (source: GameBiz<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SNK Entertainment was a wholly-owned subsidiary of SNK Corporation founded in 2016. The company operated as a contract developer, mainly for games and video and graphic production. It also engaged in licensing business surrounding SNK\u2019s library of intellectual properties, as well as other related online and digital entertainment businesses. According to Game Industry Biz<\/a>, the subsidiary was launched in an effort to \u201cbring back SNK\u2019s dormant IPs and serve as a starting point for development of new SNK digital content, collaborations, and merchandise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in June 2022, a significant portion of SNK Entertainment\u2019s game and content development, sales, marketing, and licensing businesses was transferred<\/a> to SNK through an absorption-type corporate split.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, the company has been effectively dormant since the absorption-type split, so the newly announced dissolution is not expected to have much impact on SNK\u2019s business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
