As of July 2026, Neowiz’s turn-based gacha RPG Brown Dust 2<\/strong> welcomed<\/a> Soo-yeon Kim as a new director alongside current director and producer Jun-hee Lee. The appointment has garnered much attention domestically due to Kim’s track record in the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For about two years starting mid 2024, Kim was the producer of the mature strategy RPG Last Origin (following the game’s transfer to publisher Valofe). During her tenure as producer, she gained a reputation for “pushing the limits” when it comes to the game’s fanservice, earning praise for her contributions to the game’s more titillating skins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Commenting on Kim’s joining the team, director Lee said<\/a>, “Our development team remains fully committed to the creative philosophy we have previously described as ‘Innovative Vulgarity.’ This is also one of the reasons Director Kim Soo-yeon joined the team.” The new director herself recently spoke to South Korean outlet Inven<\/a>, confirming her involvement under a dual-leadership structure with Lee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leveraging her experience, she says she plans to focus on showcasing the charms of Brown Dust 2’s characters better, ensuring that all aspects of the game, including the story, combat and other content fully reflect them. “My direction is to make what is ‘Brown Dust 2-like’ even more so, and to ensure that charm can be enjoyed for a longer time through story and content.” When asked whether she plans to approach the game with a bolder attitude or a more conservative one, Kim says she’s looking to make bold changes, but only where they are necessary:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“I will maintain what is working well, but I will change parts that I judge need improvement without being bound by existing methods. Of course, I think I may receive criticism in the process of attempting big changes. I consider that a responsibility I must bear as a director. However, I don’t think doing nothing out of fear of user reaction is a good choice either. I intend to quickly acknowledge and correct mistakes while continuing to attempt necessary changes.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
