Square Enix has announced its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 (source: GameBiz<\/a>). According to the report, the company saw large-scale growth in revenue and all profit metrics, with operating profit up 88.6% year-over-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The strong performance was driven by Square Enix’s digital entertainment (video game) business, which saw revenue grow by 51.8% and operating profit grow by 91.8% year-over-year. According to the company, all categories of its game business (HD games, MMO, mobile\/PC) saw improved performance, with sales of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales highlighted as steady contributors in the console sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Square Enix’s catalogue titles (games released in past fiscal years) also saw a boost in sales compared to the previous year, contributing to overall revenue and operating profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over in the MMO\/mobile\/browser sector, Final Fantasy XIV saw increased revenue and player activity, but profit margins increased only slightly due to expenses related to the game’s upcoming expansion. The live-service titles Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest Smash\/Grow were highlighted as high contributors to both revenue and profits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
