The offer began on July 28 and will remain in place until February 1, 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\u00a0magnitude\u00a07.1\u00a0earthquake\u00a0struck the Kumamoto prefecture on\u00a0July 28,\u00a0leading to large-scale destruction\u00a0in the region\u00a0and leaving a death\u00a0toll of at least 38 people, with over 8,200 people in evacuation shelters as of this writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The repair services will be available to residents in areas officially designated under Japan\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bousai.go.jp\/taisaku\/kyuujo\/kyuujo_tekiyou.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Disaster Relief Act<\/a>, and any Nintendo products damaged by the earthquake are eligible for repair. Affected products may be sent directly to Nintendo Service Center alongside an online or written request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nintendo does, however, warn that it may be difficult to repair some products depending on their condition, and states systems for which repair services have been discontinued (such as the Wii U, Wii, and Nintendo 3DS) will be excluded from the offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nintendo also announced on X that it would be donating 50 million yen in relief funds to the Japanese Red Cross Society.
