Japanese indie developer daidai<\/a> (a self-proclaimed \u201chater of horror\u201d), has announced The Aquarium Does Not Dance: The Idol Who Wants to Die<\/strong>. This horror adventure title serves as a prequel to 2024\u2019s The Aquarium Does Not Dance. The game\u2019s Steam<\/a> page recently launched, though no release date has been set yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Aquarium Does Not Dance: The Idol Who Wants to Die follows Hikaru, a failed idol who goes to the Bianca Aquarium wishing to die without suffering. She encounters Holo, a cleaner wrasse (a type of brightly colored fish) and the self-proclaimed \u201ccutest maid in the world.\u201d Holo has been searching for people who will allow him to perform the \u201cDirge of the Abysmal\u201d ritual, which kills the person it is performed on. When presented with the promise of a painless death, Hikaru agrees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As Holo attempts to perform the ritual on Hikaru, he discovers that a key item \u2013 a ring with a precious blue stone \u2013 is a fake. The original ring was stolen by a thief with pale skin and red eyes. As the thief leads Hikaru and Holo on a merry chase throughout the aquarium, the two are forced to solve puzzles and mysteries, all while avoiding monstrous creatures known as \u201cCreepies.\u201d Ultimately, players will find out whether Hikaru\u2019s \u201cwish\u201d gets fulfilled, as well as the motive behind Holo\u2019s desire for human sacrifices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though The Idol Who Wants to Die shares certain aspects with the original game (such as the Bianca Aquarium and Creepies), its nature as a prequel makes it likely that newcomers won\u2019t get lost even if they play this title first.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Developed by\u00a0daidai\u00a0and published by Frontier Works,\u00a0The Aquarium Does Not Dance: The Idol Who Wants to Die\u00a0is currently in development for\u00a0Windows (Steam<\/a>)\u00a0with\u00a0support for Japanese, English, Korean, as well as Traditional and Simplified Chinese languages. It\u00a0will be fully voiced in Japanese.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first game in the series, The Aquarium Does Not Dance, can be played for free on Windows (Steam<\/a>), though it does not have English support. A paid version (this one with English support) is available on Nintendo Switch<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
