Attack Only<\/strong> is an upcoming turn-based RPG where you play as a hot-headed princess protagonist who can only solve problems with her fists. Based on a Japanese indie browser hit<\/a> which racked up over 10,000 plays within a week of release, the upcoming Steam game greatly expands on the original with new stages, meta-style gimmicks, and a new storyline. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set\u00a0primarily\u00a0within\u00a0a fantasy\u00a0game\u00a0where the world is\u00a0threatened by the\u00a0\u201cDemon King,\u201d\u00a0Attack Only\u00a0follows\u00a0a princess who believes punching anyone who annoys her is simply part of being a lady. In battle,\u00a0she is limited to\u00a0the\u00a0single\u00a0\u201cAttack\u201d\u00a0command.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However,\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0the\u00a0targets\u00a0you\u00a0can\u00a0use your fists on that\u00a0are\u00a0the most interesting\u00a0part.\u00a0Aside from enemies, you can\u00a0also\u00a0strike allies,\u00a0the\u00a0game\u2019s\u00a0UI, and even the\u00a0Game Hand 2000 (a Game Boy Advance-looking console\u00a0on which the \u201cgame\u00a0within the game\u201d unfolds).\u00a0Though early enemies can be defeated with a straightforward walloping, succeeding battles force you to get more creative\u00a0with your targets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NPCs like an overly pious\u00a0priest and\u00a0sarcastic\u00a0mage\u00a0also\u00a0join\u00a0in your journey,\u00a0though\u00a0they\u00a0act\u00a0independently\u00a0during their turns.\u00a0While you can only control the princess, punching your\u00a0party members\u00a0can force them to\u00a0behave in certain ways. The priest, for example, only heals allies when they are below half health. If a party member needs emergency healing\u00a0before an enemy turn, a quick punch will get their health low enough so that the priest will heal them.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attack Only also has a meta aspect to it. Taking breaks from the 2D RPG reveals a fully explorable 3D world in which your character (the one playing the princess game along with their father) resides. As it turns out, playing the handheld game causes some of its characters to bleed into the 3D world. However, since your character is not a pugilistic princess, these sections take on more of a horror vibe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
