An\u00a0unannounced game project\u00a0by Koei Tecmo Games,\u00a0tentatively titled\u00a0FUJI<\/strong>,\u00a0has been revealed through\u00a0an\u00a0official\u00a0list\u00a0of projects<\/a>\u00a0selected by Japan\u2019s Ministry of Economy,\u00a0Trade\u00a0and Industry (METI) for the \u201cIP360\u201d initiative.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IP360 is a\u00a0government program\u00a0launched in March 2026\u00a0aimed at\u00a0supporting\u00a0the creation of new\u00a0IPs\u00a0in\u00a0the fields of\u00a0popular\u00a0Japanese\u00a0cultural exports like\u00a0video games,\u00a0manga\u00a0and anime. The initiative provides subsidies\u00a0and support for the development\u00a0of original IPs\u00a0and (or)\u00a0their global distribution, with the aim of growing\u00a0Japan\u2019s domestic content industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new list published by METI discloses the names of companies that have been approved for subsidies under IP360 so far, with some of the listings also providing information on specific projects. Such is the case for Koei Tecmo Games, which, according to the document, has been selected by METI to receive support for \u201cthe development of the new game FUJI (working title).\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Details about the game itself remain sparse, but according to the description, it\u2019s a completely original IP that leverages Koei Tecmo\u2019s expertise in \u201cOriental-style aesthetics and action games.\u201d With this project, Koei Tecmo is targeting a \u201cworldwide hit and broad IP expansion driven by the game itself.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The keywords \u201coriental aesthetics\u201d and \u201caction\u201d bring to mind Koei Tecmo IPs like Dynasty Warriors, Wo Long and Rise of the Ronin, but given that FUJI will be an all-new franchise, the upcoming title might take a direction we haven\u2019t seen before. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alongside Koei Tecmo, other major domestic game companies like Konami, Square Enix and Sega have also been chosen for METI\u2019s IP360 initiative. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
