Patch notes state that \u201ca new visual indication when shattering Rathalos&#8217;s tail has been added.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Japanese version of the <a href=\"https:\/\/jp.finalfantasyxiv.com\/lodestone\/topics\/detail\/6e7058cafbb9ec6160ac2cb015ce8d309c8cefce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">patch notes<\/a> makes it a bit more clear as to what it means by saying that they are adding depiction of tail mutilation for Rathalos. The Warriors of Light are excited by this, and \u201cRathalos\u2019 tail (\u30ea\u30aa\u30ec\u30a6\u30b9\u306e\u5c3b\u5c3e)\u201d is trending on Twitter in Japan, more so than other new information included in the patch notes.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"344\" height=\"80\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" src=\"http:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/20211201-184251-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6865\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/20211201-184251-001.jpg 344w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/20211201-184251-001-150x35.jpg 150w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/20211201-184251-001-300x70.jpg 300w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><a href=\"https:\/\/na.finalfantasyxiv.com\/lodestone\/special\/monsterhunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Great Hunt<\/a> collaboration quest was added to <em>FFXIV<\/em> in August 2018. It asks you to hunt down a stray Rathalos and doing so will reward you with special items. The quest makes use of mechanics from <em>Monster Hunter: World<\/em>, making the experience different from the usual <em>FFXIV<\/em> battles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the collaboration content had certain restrictions in terms of visual expression. In the <em>Monster Hunter<\/em> series, players can cut off monsters\u2019 body parts. That isn\u2019t the case in <em>FFXIV<\/em>. There\u2019s no graphical change to Rathalos\u2019 character model even if the tail is destroyed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FINAL FANTASY XIV x MONSTER HUNTER: WORLD Collaboration Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eUCn-P0ePa0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br><br>Naoki Yoshida, the producer\/director of <em>FFXIV,<\/em> mentioned this at the time in \u201cFinal Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer LIVE Part 45.\u201d He explained that they could not implement any depiction of \u201cmutilation\/body-cutting\u201d because it wasn&#8217;t approved by CERO, the game rating organization in Japan, to be included in the game. According to Yoshida, developers\/publishers can only apply to add \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cero.gr.jp\/en\/publics\/index\/17\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">categories of representation<\/a>\u201d when a physical edition of a game is being released. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than three years have passed, and now the <em>FFXIV<\/em> team is making tail mutilation possible with the release of patch 6.0. Looking back at the past scenarios of <em>FFXIV<\/em>, there have been NPCs whose bodies were cut in half or lost parts of it.
