{"id":68414,"date":"2026-06-18T23:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-06-18T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/?p=68414"},"modified":"2026-06-18T18:13:44","modified_gmt":"2026-06-18T09:13:44","slug":"level-5-ceo-says-megaton-musashi-served-as-emotional-rehab-helping-the-studio-rediscover-its-development-philosophy-and-make-inazuma-eleven-victory-road-work","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/level-5-ceo-says-megaton-musashi-served-as-emotional-rehab-helping-the-studio-rediscover-its-development-philosophy-and-make-inazuma-eleven-victory-road-work\/","title":{"rendered":"Level-5 CEO says Megaton Musashi served as \u201cemotional rehab,\u201d helping the studio rediscover its development philosophy and make Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road work\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Level-5&nbsp;CEO Akihiro Hino recently talked to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/article\/202606\/78535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>&nbsp;about&nbsp;the studio\u2019s&nbsp;newest&nbsp;releases like&nbsp;<strong>Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 which ended a decade-long gap in the series \u2013&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Japan-only&nbsp;mobile game<strong>&nbsp;Inazuma Eleven Cross<\/strong>.&nbsp;Discussing the&nbsp;difficulty&nbsp;he faced in making&nbsp;sure&nbsp;Inazuma Eleven\u2019s latest mainline entry&nbsp;would be appealing&nbsp;to&nbsp;a&nbsp;now&nbsp;much&nbsp;older&nbsp;fandom,&nbsp;Hino mentioned the development of Megaton Musashi&nbsp;as having an incredibly positive effect on him, and as a result, Victory Road&nbsp;itself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The mecha hack-and-slash action RPG Megaton Musashi first released in 2021 in Japan, with the definitive worldwide version,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/2450450\/MEGATON_MUSASHI_W_WIRED\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Megaton\u00a0Musashi W: Wired<\/a>,\u00a0following in 2024.\u00a0Looking back on its development, Hino\u00a0jokes about\u00a0the project feeling\u00a0like\u00a0\u201cemotional rehabilitation.\u201d\u00a0While working on the game, he says\u00a0he was able to rediscover his answer to the question of\u00a0\u201cwhat it means to\u00a0connect with\u00a0your audience.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1526\" height=\"858\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1526px) 100vw, 1526px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618-68414-header.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-68415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618-68414-header.jpg 1526w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618-68414-header-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/20260618-68414-header-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s&nbsp;not about working hard because we expect big sales, it\u2019s&nbsp;about giving it our all if&nbsp;there\u2019s&nbsp;even a single person out there genuinely waiting for it. I realized&nbsp;that\u2019s&nbsp;the only way it should be,\u201d he says. \u201cAt the time, there were&nbsp;some&nbsp;people on YouTube&nbsp;regularly&nbsp;making videos about&nbsp;Level-5&nbsp;games, and it&nbsp;wouldn&#8217;t&nbsp;be an exaggeration to say I was making the game for them. I believe&nbsp;that&#8217;s&nbsp;the foundation of entertainment: if&nbsp;you&#8217;re&nbsp;not creating something for&nbsp;<em>someone<\/em>, you&nbsp;won&#8217;t&nbsp;make anything&nbsp;truly good.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Putting things into more specific terms, Hino mentions the origin of the Professor Layton series, which&nbsp;Level-5&nbsp;created around the idea of \u201cmaking a game mothers would enjoy.\u201d In this sense,&nbsp;he considers projects created with a specific&nbsp;person&nbsp;in mind to be the secret&nbsp;to achieving&nbsp;hits. While this&nbsp;is&nbsp;a mindset he has always held, Hino says Megaton Musashi helped him realize he needed to visualize his&nbsp;target much more clearly. \u201cI constantly imagined the people who had been waiting for the game and thought as deeply as possible about what would make them happy or move them emotionally.
