Anime production company <\/strong>Silver Link<\/strong> has reported an operating loss of 271 million JPY (roughly $1.7 million USD) for the fiscal year ending March 2026 (source: Gamebiz<\/a>). While the loss hasn\u2019t widened significantly compared to the previous fiscal year, this marks the studio\u2019s third consecutive year of losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 2007, Silver Link is an anime studio under the Asahi Broadcasting Group and has\u00a0worked on\u00a0numerous\u00a0manga and light novel anime adaptations as well as OVAs. Some of its most well-known titles include\u00a0WataMote, Kokoro Connect and Strike the Blood,\u00a0as well as the more recent\u00a0Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While\u00a0Silver Link\u2019s latest financial results showed a substantial increase\u00a0in revenue, rising by\u00a032.1%\u00a0year-on-year,\u00a0it seems this was not enough to offset their\u00a0operating losses.\u00a0While the exact circumstances\u00a0behind Silver Link\u2019s\u00a0situation\u00a0are not known, the\u00a0trend of \u201crising revenue, but diminishing profit margins\u201d\u00a0has been\u00a0on\u00a0the rise\u00a0throughout Japan\u2019s anime industry\u00a0(according to research company Teikoku Databank<\/a>), attributed to issues like prolonged production periods and\u00a0skilled worker shortages.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Not long ago, Studio KAI \u2013 which is known for the second and third seasons of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby TV anime series, announced insolvency<\/a> amidst a $3.54 million deficit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
