Not long after Nintendo had to cancel large-scale events in 2023 and 2024 due to threats to its employees and eventgoers, the company is being hit by bomb threats yet again. On May 12, Kyoto police arrested a 27-year-old unemployed Japanese man on suspicion of sending letters threatening to blow up Nintendo\u2019s headquarters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police (as reported by\u00a0KTV News<\/a>), the man was arrested on grounds of suspected\u00a0obstruction of business\u00a0after sending Nintendo envelopes\u00a0containing\u00a0messages like \u201cI\u2019m going to blow you all up\u201d and \u201cMy plans cannot be thwarted.\u201d\u00a0He also threatened that\u00a0he\u2019d\u00a0\u201calready\u00a0planted multiple bombs\u201d\u00a0within the\u00a0company\u2019s\u00a0premises.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nintendo reported this to the police on March 16, after which officers searched the area. Nothing suspicious was found, but the man has since admitted to the charges. The police are currently investigating his motive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The case is quite similar to 2024\u2019s arrest of another 27-year-old man<\/a> who threatened to bomb Nintendo\u2019s forthcoming events and harm its employees. This incident led the company to cancel the Splatoon Koshien National Finals 2023 tournament (which the threatener had directly referred to), as well as the subsequent Nintendo Live 2024 Tokyo. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
