This month, Too Kyo Games\u2019 debut visual novel TRPG The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy<\/strong> celebrates its first anniversary. The milestone has come with several exciting announcements, like an upcoming multi-ending stage play and an official manga adaptation by Square Enix\u2019s Manga UP!, set to start publication in the winter of 2026. As for DLC, while nothing has been officially announced yet, new comments<\/a> from game director Kazutaka Kodaka suggest fans should expect a truly enormous expansion to the already mind-bogglingly elaborate game. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To give some background, back in June last year, Kodaka said<\/a> that given the base game\u2019s sales allow it, he would like to expand The Hundred Line\u2019s story with new routes and endings through DLC, enough to \u201ccreate an overwhelmingly huge labyrinth of scenarios.\u201d Now, almost a year later, Famitsu<\/a> asked Kodaka what the chances are of this becoming a reality.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s still in the conceptual stage,\u201d he says, \u201cbut I\u2019m personally intent on doing it, and the rest of the development team members at our company are also on board.\u201d According to Kodaka, his team is deliberating whether the DLC should only add to the story or expand upon gameplay as well. However, one thing\u2019s certain: the director doesn\u2019t think releasing DLC would be meaningful if it just added an additional route. Instead, he wants to create something elaborate enough to be worthy of the name \u201cThe Hundred Line 3.\u201d Given that The Hundred Line 1 and 2 are already voluminous enough to officially be regarded as \u201ctwo games in one<\/a>,\u201d this sounds like an ambitious endeavor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf we don\u2019t approach it with that level of commitment, the impact will be weak, and it won\u2019t feel like The Hundred Line,\u201d Kodaka comments. He also mentions the possibility of inviting guest writers for some of the new routes. Ideally, Too Kyo Games is looking to make a DLC announcement simultaneously with another major media mix campaign, to maximize The Hundred Line\u2019s momentum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is available for PC (Steam<\/a>) and Nintendo Switch. To commemorate the game’s 1st anniversary, the Steam version will be available at a 40% discount until April 30th (Thu) 8:00 AM (PDT).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
