Japanese entertainment company Toei has announced the establishment of its own game brand Toei Games.<\/strong> The announcement was coupled with the reveal of Toei Games\u2019s new logo and a pixel art animation of Toei\u2019s signature movie opening sequence of waves crashing into rocks, commissioned from game developer Kairosoft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Best known internationally for its anime subsidiary Toei Animation (One Piece, Dragon Ball), Toei has decided to branch out beyond television, film and anime into the video game market. The new game brand will initially target the PC market (specifically Steam), with plans for eventual expansion to PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and Xbox. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly,\u00a0Toei Games\u2019s early\u00a0game lineup will not\u00a0include\u00a0titles\u00a0based on existing IPs. The company\u2019s goal is to foster\u00a0brand-new game IPs from scratch, created by both domestic and international developers. The projects will also\u00a0leverage\u00a0Toei\u2019s technology and\u00a0know-how\u00a0cultivated through film production.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
