Japan recently marked 15 years since the\u00a0devastating\u00a02011 Great East Japan Earthquake\u00a0that claimed\u00a0thousands of\u00a0lives and left countless\u00a0families\u00a0without homes.\u00a0As people online reminisced\u00a0about their\u00a0experiences,\u00a0X\u00a0users who were in elementary school\u00a0at the time\u00a0realized\u00a0that\u00a0they\u00a0had a collective memory of\u00a0receiving volumes of\u00a0manga donations at their schools, but that they\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0find anything about them online.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mystery gained attention when user Mimosa Salad (@yeqq88465) posted<\/a>, “During the 2011 T\u014dhoku earthquake, I\u2019m pretty sure Eiichiro Oda donated a full set of One Piece volumes to my elementary school. I used to read them nonstop during recess, but when I Google it, nothing comes up for some reason.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n The post triggered a wave of\u00a0comments from those who experienced the same\u00a0thing.\u00a0One user from\u00a0inland\u00a0Iwate\u00a0wrote<\/a>, “I tweeted about it a few years ago and tried Googling it,\u00a0but nothing came up.\u00a0I was like, ‘Who did this?!’\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0glad to find someone like me.”\u00a0Another\u00a0user\u00a0from Miyagi\u00a0chimed in<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a0saying\u00a0that\u00a0the books were for in-library use only at their school and assumed that “they\u2019d been donated to every single school in Miyagi.”\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
