Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kB1663FTpzU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>First released&nbsp;on September 22, 2017, Doki&nbsp;Doki&nbsp;Literature Club!&nbsp;is a visual novel that lures players in with its cute, anime-style aesthetic. While the beginning is&nbsp;similar&nbsp;to&nbsp;a&nbsp;standard&nbsp;school-themed&nbsp;dating simulator,&nbsp;the game&nbsp;soon reveals its psychological horror influences and&nbsp;spirals into dark themes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Due to this gap in visual style and content, the&nbsp;Jordanian&nbsp;Public Security Directorate&nbsp;has decided to warn&nbsp;parents against downloading the game&nbsp;onto smartphones and electronic&nbsp;devices, and&nbsp;asks them to promote&nbsp;conversations with their children&nbsp;regarding&nbsp;the safe use of the internet and video games.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"936\" height=\"720\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 936px) 100vw, 936px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-62810\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-2.png 936w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-2-380x292.png 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/image-2-768x591.png 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While&nbsp;Doki&nbsp;Doki&nbsp;Literature Club! and its expanded version, Doki&nbsp;Doki&nbsp;Literature Club Plus!, explicitly&nbsp;state&nbsp;that they are \u201cnot suitable for children or the easily disturbed\u201d,&nbsp;the text is often found at the very bottom of their digital store and physical edition descriptions. Similar warnings can also be found&nbsp;in promotional materials and&nbsp;when booting up the games, but by this time, players are already filled with anticipation that they&nbsp;won\u2019t&nbsp;bother reading them.&nbsp;On the other hand, the game\u2019s mobile editions are explicitly categorized as 18+ titles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Doki&nbsp;Doki&nbsp;Literature&nbsp;Club!\u2019s&nbsp;rise in popularity in&nbsp;Jordan&nbsp;is likely due to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/doki-doki-literature-club-releases-for-free-on-mobile-content-from-expanded-edition-available-as-dlc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the base game being released for free on Android and iOS devices<\/a>&nbsp;last December 2025.
