One of the later achievements you can obtain in Resident Evil Requiem<\/strong>, \u201cCat Got Your Tongue?\u201d requires you cut the tongue off a Licker \u03b2 using Leon Kennedy\u2019s hatchet. Given that Lickers can only be found in the ARK and have several moves in their arsenal, completing this requires a bit of patience and careful parry timing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First things first: find a Licker<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

While your first encounter with a Licker occurs soon after you enter the ARK and during your first fight with human enemies, I recommend waiting until you regain control of Leon after playing Grace Ashcroft\u2019s first ARK section. Lickers become more abundant in the later parts of the ARK, allowing you several chances to get the achievement in case you mess up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn the Licker\u2019s move set<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Despite its namesake, the Licker rarely does its tongue lash attack. It usually defaults to its lunge move (as seen above), where it rears back on its hind legs before pouncing on you with its front claws, or its swipe (as seen below), which is much faster and does not include the hind leg animation. Thankfully, both of these attacks can be parried, so you won\u2019t have to kill the Licker to get another chance at the achievement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Licker does both the lunge and the tongue lash from medium to close range, so you\u2019ll have to watch closely to see which attack it commits to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch out for the Licker\u2019s tongue lash attack<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The animation you\u2019re looking for involves the Licker slowly unrolling its tongue. There is a bit of a delay to it, but you\u2019ll want to parry the ranged attack just as the tongue reaches the apex of its height.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If timed properly, you\u2019ll sever the Licker\u2019s tongue. In addition to getting the achievement, you\u2019ll leave the Licker open to a melee attack execution and prevent it from using the tongue lash, making this an effective way to deal with the monster without using too much ammunition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
