It wouldn\u2019t be a proper visit to Raccoon City without encountering at least one biohazard humanoid, and thankfully, a new Tyrant variant is there to greet Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil Requiem<\/strong>. After being chased for a short while through the police station, you\u2019ll soon get the opportunity to flex the returning survivor\u2019s combat skills against one of his oldest foes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Parry the Super Tyrant\u2019s charge attacks and swipes <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

While the Super Tyrant\u2019s charge attacks and swipes would have been deadly against Leon in Resident Evil 2, the hero\u2019s newfound ability to parry with his hatchet allows you to turn the tables in your favor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Super Tyrant will always start the fight by\u00a0charging at\u00a0you. This will give you a good opportunity to get used to the roar he does beforehand, as well as the correct parry timing for the attack.\u00a0Failing to parry\u00a0or avoid it will result in the boss tossing you aside, whereupon you must complete a quick time event to avoid getting killed.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

It also has a thrust move that is telegraphed by the monster pulling back its left hand before charging in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parrying either of the two charge attacks will momentarily leave the Super Tyrant stunned, as if he were fighting a losing battle in an action anime. Take this opportunity to shoot the enemy in his exposed heart, which is its weak point. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Super Tyrant has a combo\u00a0consisting of up to three swipes, all of\u00a0which you can parry. Successfully deflecting\u00a0the\u00a0attacks will give you an\u00a0opening, but\u00a0not one long enough\u00a0for\u00a0you\u00a0to\u00a0whip out a scoped rifle\u00a0and\u00a0shoot it up close. Stick to quick weapons like your pistols or shotguns to\u00a0deal\u00a0some damage before it retaliates.\u00a0Likewise, be mindful of your hatchet\u2019s durability and sharpen it regularly, as continued parries will whittle it down.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch out for cars <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The cars around the boss arena aren\u2019t just for show, as the Super Tyrant uses them to great effect. All of the boss\u2019s attacks can toss cars around, but there are two in particular that you should watch out for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The first attack is an uppercut that can be done from up close or far away. Given that the Super Tyrant gives little\u00a0indication\u00a0when it is about to punch upward, your best bet is to always have the parry button ready whenever he\u00a0moves\u00a0up\u00a0close. The uppercut from far away is more\u00a0forgiving, as you can avoid the cars it throws at you.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Unlike the uppercut, the Super Tyrant\u2019s\u00a0dedicated\u00a0car toss attack is very telegraphed. Its attention\u00a0turns\u00a0to a nearby car, which it\u00a0proceeds\u00a0to pick up and throw at you.\u00a0The thrown car will barrel at you horizontally,\u00a0making it quite difficult to dodge.\u00a0Be sure to have enough room on\u00a0one\u00a0side\u00a0so\u00a0you\u00a0can avoid the\u00a0massive damage this\u00a0makeshift projectile\u00a0can do.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be careful when the Super Tyrant jumps on a car, but not too careful that you forget to shoot it <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another telegraphed attack is one where the Super Tyrant jumps on a car. He isn\u2019t getting ready to shoot a hip-hop music video, but rather preparing to land on you. When you see him pop a squat on an automobile, you have enough time to get a quick shot in before you start running in wide angles. The drop attack it does afterwards deals a fair amount of damage, but whether you avoid it or not, the Super Tyrant will leave itself open for a counterattack.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keep an eye out for some of the Super Tyrant\u2019s rarer animations <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There are some small animations to watch out for. The Super Tyrant\u2019s car shove move isn\u2019t as much of an attack as it is a way for the boss to reach you. While the cars are pushed to the side instead of toward you, you can never be too careful when it comes to moving hunks of metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Likewise, be on the lookout for when the Super Tyrant falls on its knees. This occurs after you have done enough damage to it and will prompt you to do a hatchet execution. Similar to Leon\u2019s battle with the Chunk<\/a>, you can use this opportunity to deal some extra damage with your weapons before finishing off with the hatchet. Be warned that completing this execution does not end the fight, but it does mean that the boss is on low health. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Super Tyrant has more moves than your standard Resident Evil Requiem boss, but luckily, its exposed weak point makes the fight fairly straightforward. This is a great time to use any Requiem ammo you have saved up, as it won\u2019t even take ten shots with the gun to fell this monster. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Resident Evil Requiem is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Windows (Steam<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
