While\u00a0Pok\u00e9mon\u00a0Pokopia<\/strong>\u2019s\u00a0nature as a cozy life simulation\/crafting game\u00a0may\u00a0be a far-cry from\u00a0the\u00a0mainline Pok\u00e9mon games, its core gameplay loop\u00a0was inspired by senior director Shigeru\u00a0Ohmori\u2019s\u00a0experience working on Pok\u00e9mon Ruby and Sapphire back in 2001 (source:\u00a0Famitsu<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a game and map designer, one of Ohmori\u2019s first roles on the project was placing grass patches in the levels for wild Pok\u00e9mon to pop out of. Using an in-house editor, he found it fascinating that creatures native to the area would spawn whenever he placed a new patch of vegetation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With that in mind, Ohmori wanted to make a game where players could experience a similar feeling of creating their own world where Pok\u00e9mon can live and flourish. The Pok\u00e9mon would have distinct personalities that they could learn about in a manner unlike the mainline RPG titles. After more than twenty years, Pok\u00e9mon Pokopia was born. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
