The project was&nbsp;launched and&nbsp;led by&nbsp;guitarist and ex-Konami&nbsp;composer Motoaki Furukawa, with a planned&nbsp;2020&nbsp;release window. However,&nbsp;development stalled,&nbsp;and updates&nbsp;about the project&nbsp;stopped.&nbsp;Although the crowdfunding platform&nbsp;eventually&nbsp;issued refunds&nbsp;to backers,&nbsp;there&#8217;s&nbsp;been ongoing conflict between&nbsp;the creators ever since.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1068\" height=\"601\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1068px) 100vw, 1068px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20220105-187851-header-1068x601-1.webp\" alt=\"Steam Pilots\" class=\"wp-image-56412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20220105-187851-header-1068x601-1.webp 1068w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20220105-187851-header-1068x601-1-380x214.webp 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20220105-187851-header-1068x601-1-768x432.webp 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pixel,&nbsp;who was&nbsp;originally hired&nbsp;by Furukawa&nbsp;to develop the game, says it&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20220105-8183\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">stopped working on the project<\/a>&nbsp;because it&nbsp;wasn\u2019t&nbsp;being paid and because&nbsp;previously&nbsp;agreed terms&nbsp;about the project&nbsp;were changed&nbsp;one-sidedly.&nbsp;They went on to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/20220308-10342\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sue Furukawa in 2022<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;recover the unpaid development fees. Furukawa responded by filing a lawsuit of his own&nbsp;in 2023, seeking&nbsp;not only&nbsp;damages&nbsp;from Pixel, but&nbsp;additional&nbsp;personal compensation from Pixel\u2019s CEO, claiming emotional&nbsp;distress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On January 29,&nbsp;2026,&nbsp;a local Japanese&nbsp;court finally made a&nbsp;ruling&nbsp;on both sides\u2019 claims, dismissing&nbsp;Pixel\u2019s demand for payment as well as&nbsp;Furukawa\u2019s damages claim against the company.
