{"id":56366,"date":"2026-02-02T22:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-02T13:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/?p=56366"},"modified":"2026-02-02T17:29:07","modified_gmt":"2026-02-02T08:29:07","slug":"disgaeas-next-installment-will-show-off-nippon-ichi-softwares-leap-in-3d-graphics-ceo-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/disgaeas-next-installment-will-show-off-nippon-ichi-softwares-leap-in-3d-graphics-ceo-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Disgaea\u2019s\u00a0next installment will\u00a0show off\u00a0Nippon Ichi Software\u2019s\u00a0leap in 3D graphics, CEO says\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Nippon Ichi Software (NIS)\u2019s next entry in the&nbsp;<strong>Disgaea<\/strong>&nbsp;series will&nbsp;demonstrate&nbsp;the company\u2019s ongoing&nbsp;efforts to modernize its development&nbsp;technology and improve&nbsp;the quality of&nbsp;its&nbsp;3D&nbsp;graphics, according to CEO Kenzo&nbsp;Saruhashi.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with&nbsp;South Korean outlet&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisisgame.com\/articles\/413353?newsId=263&amp;categoryId=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ThisIsGame<\/a>&nbsp;during Taipei Game Show 2026,&nbsp;Saruhashi&nbsp;was asked&nbsp;how he views&nbsp;NIS\u2019s&nbsp;somewhat rocky&nbsp;transition to&nbsp;3D graphics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"896\" height=\"504\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 896px) 100vw, 896px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251105-536540001.jpg\" alt=\"Kyouran Makaism\" class=\"wp-image-53656\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251105-536540001.jpg 896w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251105-536540001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251105-536540001-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the CEO&nbsp;admitted,&nbsp;\u201cWe recognize that we still need to catch up&nbsp;with&nbsp;competitors&nbsp;when it comes to&nbsp;creating&nbsp;appealing 3D models and animations.\u201d&nbsp;To close the&nbsp;gap,&nbsp;it seems&nbsp;the company&nbsp;has&nbsp;established&nbsp;an internal, cross-project team dedicated to raising overall graphical quality across all&nbsp;NIS&nbsp;titles.&nbsp;Saruhashi&nbsp;added that the studio is&nbsp;also&nbsp;bringing&nbsp;in outside design&nbsp;expertise&nbsp;for this purpose,&nbsp;although he&nbsp;didn\u2019t&nbsp;go into the details.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the&nbsp;developer&nbsp;has several smaller-scale projects already&nbsp;slated for release in 2026,&nbsp;Saruhashi&nbsp;says that the next entry of NIS\u2019s flagship RPG series is where the fruits of these efforts will be&nbsp;most&nbsp;apparent.&nbsp;\u201cAlthough it\u2019s not something we\u2019re ready to announce yet,\u201d he said, \u201cwe think you\u2019ll be able to see the outcomes of these technical improvements in the latest&nbsp;Disgaea&nbsp;title.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Saruhashi&nbsp;also touched on NIS\u2019s strategy of pursuing multiple, smaller games rather than devoting its resources to&nbsp;large-scale&nbsp;releases.&nbsp;Last year,&nbsp;company announced six new games slated for release within 2025 and 2026, with the majority being new, experimental IPs or ideas pitched by employees through NIS\u2019s internal competition \u201cNippon Ichi Project Festival.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1400\" height=\"776\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260202-56366-001.jpg\" alt=\"Disgaea 7\" class=\"wp-image-56370\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260202-56366-001.jpg 1400w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260202-56366-001-380x211.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/20260202-56366-001-768x426.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He explained that this approach allows staff to repeatedly experience the full development cycle, from creating a game, shipping it, to gathering player feedback, which helps them grow as developers.
