While\u00a0there\u2019s plenty of anime rankings out there\u00a0that\u00a0compile all-time\u00a0must-watch\u00a0titles, a January 4\u00a0survey\u00a0conducted\u00a0by Japanese company\u00a0CMSite\u00a0and published\u00a0by\u00a0Rankingoo<\/a>\u00a0ranks\u00a0anime exclusively\u00a0belonging to\u00a0the Reiwa era (May 1, 2019 – present).\u00a0The survey is based on responses from\u00a01,722 Japanese men and women,\u00a0and the results are quite\u00a0telling of mainstream anime tastes in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are the top 10 Reiwa-era anime according to the survey, along with the year they were released and the number of votes they got: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.\u00a0Demon Slayer:\u00a0Kimetsu\u00a0no\u00a0Yaiba\u00a0(2019) – 158 votes\u00a0

2.\u00a0The Apothecary Diaries (2023) – 87 votes

3. Oshi no Ko\u00a0(2023) – 73 votes

4.\u00a0Kaguya-sama: Love is War (2019) – 67 votes

5.\u00a0The Dangers in My Heart\u00a0(2023) – 66 votes

6.\u00a0Mushoku\u00a0Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation\u00a0(2021) – 65 votes

7.\u00a0Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury\u00a0(2022) – 64 votes

8. THE FIRST SLAM DUNK\u00a0(2022) – 63 votes

9.\u00a0Lycoris Recoil (2022) – 62 votes

10.\u00a0Jujutsu Kaisen (2020) – 61 votes<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly, The Witch from Mercury and THE FIRST SLAM DUNK were the only two anime based on long-running franchises (the latter being the only film on the list). On a related note, all of the anime either have previous or succeeding seasons\/spin-offs that have kept their IPs relevant for long periods of time, which could explain why the latest entries (The Apothecary Diaries, Oshi no Ko, and The Dangers in My Heart) are from 2023. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While shonen anime like Jujutsu Kaisen and the ever-dominating Demon Slayer<\/a> are present, it\u2019s nice to see some variety, with the drama (The Apothecary Diaries, Oshi no Ko), romance (Kaguya-sama, The Dangers in My Heart), isekai (Mushoku Tensei), mecha (Gundam), sports (Slam Dunk), and action\/slice of life (Lycoris Recoil) genres getting some representation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
