Japanese video game developer Nihon Falcom published its Business Plan and Growth Potential Details document on December 26, analyzing their performance in the previous year and shedding light on new business strategies that the company will be focusing on from the fiscal year ending in September 2026. As reported by GameBiz<\/a>, in the following years, the company plans to put an emphasis on multiplatform expansion and production of new IP content, with 6 unannounced titles currently in development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nihon Falcom has recently been on a roll, with Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter debuting as its most successful Steam release to date<\/a> and Ys X: Proud Nordics also having solid performance, so it\u2019s not surprising that its sales went up 3.5% year on year (approximately $16.7 million USD), with operating profit and net profit rising by 8.1% and 6.0% respectively. Going forward, the company outlined three major strategies to further expand their business over the medium-to-long term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firstly, Falcom plans to self-publish major titles for the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 in order to expand its revenue base in the domestic market. Aside from Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, which was originally announced for Switch 2 (and all other major platforms), the company revealed that they are currently working on a Nintendo Switch 2 port of one of their other existing titles, though exact details are still under the wraps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Nintnedo Switch 2 ports, the company is looking to broaden the reach of their IPs through multiplatform expansions, multi language support for their titles and other game-unrelated multimedia content. Notably, 2026 will mark the launch of the English versions of Trails Beyond the Horizon and Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta, while Ys X: Proud Nordics and Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter will be getting support for English, French, German and Spanish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, Falcom plans to focus on creating brand-new IP content while also boosting the frequency of new releases over the following few years. The company says that \u201cDespite raising the frequency of released titles to 4~5 per year, our focus was on ported releases, which had limited impact on business performance. Therefore, we will be shifting our focus to releasing more new game titles.\u201d Instead of the usual 1 new title per year, Falcom aims to release up to 2 titles per year over the next three years. As revealed in Falcom\u2019s business plan, excluding Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, there are currently 6 unannounced titles in development. Asides from two new ports (one of them being the aforementioned Nintendo Switch 2 one), Falcom is also working on four brand-new titles (including a new Trails series game, a new Ys series game and a new Tokyo Xanadu project game<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
