Commemorating the milestone in an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/dengekionline.com\/article\/202511\/58056\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dengeki Online<\/a>, company president Toshihiro Kondo talked more about the \u201dnew project\u201d in the Tokyo Xanadu series, which was announced in 2024. He shed some light on why it took so long for the studio to come out with a new series entry in the first place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Kondo, Tokyo Xanadu was always supposed to get a sequel, but things got tricky along the line, and turning it into a full-fledged series ended up taking more time than expected. \u201cWe originally created the title under the premise that we\u2019d make a series from it. We never intended to end it with just one game,\u201d Kondo commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1260\" height=\"710\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1260px) 100vw, 1260px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251120-541270001.jpg\" alt=\"Tokyo Xanadu eX gameplay.\" class=\"wp-image-54130\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251120-541270001.jpg 1260w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251120-541270001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/20251120-541270001-768x433.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHowever, as you may know, we\u2019ve been extremely busy developing the Trails series. And in a blink of an eye, 10 years passed without us even getting started with development of the sequel,\u201d Kondo said. Apparently, throughout the years, even Masayuki Kato, the late founder of Nihon Falcom, was actively pushing for the idea to make Tokyo Xanadu into a series. \u201cHe always kept asking us why we don\u2019t turn it into a series. But that\u2019s how we\u2019ve always felt too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Kondo explained, Nihon Falcom has finally settled down and made all the arrangements necessary to re-start development of the series smoothly. Despite there not being so much information about the sequel as of now, Kondo reassures Nihon Falcom fans that the team has been making solid progress on the upcoming Kyoto-themed Xanadu title behind the scenes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u300c\u6771\u4eb0\u30b6\u30ca\u30c9\u30a5 \u65b0\u30d7\u30ed\u30b8\u30a7\u30af\u30c8\u300d\u30a2\u30ca\u30a6\u30f3\u30b9\u30c8\u30ec\u30fc\u30e9\u30fc\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WUMTWOPmnsM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Nihon Falcom has been on a roll recently, announcing the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> chapter of the <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/trails-in-the-sky-1st-chapter-does-double-the-original-games-playtime-but-its-dense-enough-to-justify-70-hours-nihon-falcom-president-assures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quite voluminous<\/a> Trails in the Sky remake series almost back-to-back with the release of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> chapter, which debuted as their <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/trails-in-the-sky-1st-chapter-debuts-a-nihon-falcoms-most-successful-steam-release-to-date\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">most successful Steam release to date<\/a>.
