But due to its intentionally playful nature, there\u2019s been a lot of debate on the \u201ccanonicity\u201d of the GQuuuuuuX story among Gundam fans alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Trailer #1 (2025)\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FRgeWZO3Xn4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As it\u2019s been running for almost 50 years now, the timeline(s) of the Gundam series are not that easy to wrap your head around, especially if you\u2019re new to the franchise. While the biggest portion of the series takes place in the Universal Century timeline, other Gundam anime are set across parallel independent timelines like the Cosmic Era, Future Century and After Colony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though most installments are quite explicit about what timeline they take place in, Gundam GQuuuuuuX went on to shake up the events of the Universal Century alternate-universe-style, making it somewhat difficult for fans to figure out where (and if) it fits in the larger context of the series. And with recent new titles like Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury being their own standalone thing, some fans theorized that this could be the case with GQuuuuuuX as well. However, the Gundam <a href=\"https:\/\/gundam-official.com\/series\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">official website<\/a> suggests that\u2019s not the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1196\" height=\"674\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1196px) 100vw, 1196px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251014-529470001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52948\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251014-529470001.jpg 1196w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251014-529470001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251014-529470001-768x433.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The site logs every Gundam anime in chronological order and conveniently separates the animated franchise into four distinct series: the Universal Century series, the Alternative series, SD Gundam series, and the Gundam Build series. Notably, Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX was sorted into the Universal Century series, not the Alternative one. Though many fans are saying that \u2013 well yeah, it would make sense for it to be a part of the Universal Century series \u2013 this is the first time that the \u201ccanonicity\u201d of Gundam GQuuuuuuX was officially addressed by Bandai Namco Filmworks.
