Armed with an endless supply of harpoons, you will traverse the waters on your trusty boat and hunt for all manner of aquatic creatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"UMIGARI | \u30a6\u30df\u30ac\u30ea Demo Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1FFav7B_nfI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Umigari presents itself as a rather normal fishing simulator, but it only takes one look at the developer\u2019s track record to realize that the game is probably hiding something much more sinister. As a Japanese fisherman, it is your job to hunt for fish aboard your boat. Caught fish can be sold to fishmongers found on different islands, who will reward you with money that can be used to upgrade your harpoons, boat, and other gear (which they also sell).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1280\" height=\"720\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850001.jpg\" alt=\"Umigari upgrades.\" class=\"wp-image-52788\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850001.jpg 1280w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850001-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Much like Black Salt Games\u2019 indie hit Dredge, Umigari features some weird things from the get-go (the fishmonger in the demo trailer has an eerily fish-like face). Following initial impressions, the game\u2019s description reads that things will only get stranger the more you explore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"951\" height=\"535\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 951px) 100vw, 951px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850002.jpg\" alt=\"Umigari large fish.\" class=\"wp-image-52789\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850002.jpg 951w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850002-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/20251008-527850002-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As you venture further into the open sea, larger and potentially more dangerous fish will start spawning, and if you\u2019re (un)lucky enough, you may end up encountering some stranger \u201cthings\u201d as well, like the two-legged fish featured in the game\u2019s trailer. To offset the added risks, better gear and rewards are supposedly held within the world\u2019s darkest corners.
