Talking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/article\/202509\/53825\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>, the title\u2019s director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masato Kumazawa shed some light on what optimizing for the new console was like.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Resident Evil Requiem (RE9) - Nintendo Switch 2 Handheld Gameplay - Tokyo Game Show 2025 Demo\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TkmmrF4ajmk?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about whether they encountered any difficulties during the process, Nakanishi comments, \u201cTo begin with, we designed the game to be fairly scalable. We\u2019ve been adjusting a range of options while developing it so that it can support everything from high-spec to relatively low-spec systems.\u201d As a result, optimizing Resident Evil Requiem to suit the Switch 2\u2019s capabilities was a \u201cpretty smooth\u201d process for Nakanishi\u2019s team.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The director goes on to add that \u201cwe didn\u2019t just take something built for high-end hardware and forcefully downgrade it, we accounted for various gaming environments in advance.\u201d That said, he admits that when they first saw Resident Evil Requiem running on Switch 2, even the developers themselves were surprised by how good it looked. Nakanishi attributes the success to the hard work of Capcom\u2019s RE Engine team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1686\" height=\"944\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1686px) 100vw, 1686px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52482-001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52485\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52482-001.jpg 1686w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52482-001-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52482-001-768x430.jpg 768w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52482-001-1536x860.jpg 1536w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Kumazawa, a big part of Resident Evil Requiem\u2019s marketing is letting to-be players know they&#8217;ll be able to fully experience everything the game has to offer in their regular gaming environments, without having to worry about their hardware specs not being high enough.
