PS2-era games surprisingly costly to revisit\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Following Koei Tecmo Games\u2019s announcement of <strong>Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered<\/strong>, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/ZtZOzrD9Q8w?feature=shared\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dynasty Warriors 25th Anniversary Producer Talk<\/a> was held on September 26, during which viewers could ask the developers questions about the franchise. As reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/news.denfaminicogamer.jp\/news\/2509272e\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Denfaminicogamer,<\/a> the developers were asked about the possibility of additional future remasters of past titles, now that Dynasty Warriors 3 would be getting one come March 19, 2026.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered Announcement Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F8IBc9V5pCc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Tomohiko Sho, head of Koei Tecmo\u2019s Omega Force development team, there are currently no ongoing plans to remaster other previous Dynasty Warriors titles. He made the decision to remaster Dynasty Warriors 3 because it was the most heavily requested title by fans. While the studio is aware of the requests to remake or <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/over-10-of-koei-tecmos-revenue-came-through-steam-this-year-13-via-sony\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">port other titles to PC<\/a>, Sho reflects that remastering Dynasty Warriors 3 was \u201creally difficult to achieve.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dynasty Warriors IP producer Akihiro Suzuki expanded on this point, commenting that \u201crecreating a PS2-era game is incredibly expensive.\u201d In addition to improving the graphics and <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/koei-tecmo-made-significant-investments-in-further-development-of-its-in-house-game-engine-the-katana-engine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">game engine<\/a> of Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered (the game will run on Unreal Engine 5), gameplay has been tweaked for improved playability. All of these changes cost money, which Koei Tecmo is hoping to recoup following the release of the remaster.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1436\" height=\"800\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1436px) 100vw, 1436px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52441-001.jpg\" alt=\"Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered \" class=\"wp-image-52444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52441-001.jpg 1436w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52441-001-380x212.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/20250729-52441-001-768x428.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Sho ultimately says that future remasters will depend entirely on how well the newly announced Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered sells. \u201cIf this game isn\u2019t successful, there won\u2019t be a next one, so we\u2019re looking forward to your support.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/koei-tecmo-shares-lifetime-sales-figures-for-ninja-gaiden-dynasty-warriors-and-other-franchises\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dynasty Warriors is one of Koei Tecmo\u2019s best-selling IPs<\/a> and has sold numerous copies throughout different titles in Eastern countries like Japan and China, it has <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/dynasty-warriors-series-still-cant-be-considered-a-success-in-the-west-according-to-producer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">struggled to find a footing in the West<\/a>.
