In your first visit to Silent Hill f<\/strong>\u2019s Dark Shrine<\/a>, you\u2019ll come across an area that features several ema (wooden plaque) boards. These boards play an important role in solving the shrine vault puzzle, but a Blood-Stained Letter hints that a helpful Omamori is hidden behind a specific ema.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After learning that the shrine\u2019s vault requires a three-symbol passcode to unlock it, you will find yourself back at the ema boards and come face-to-face with your first Dark Shrine monster. The monster can be disposed of momentarily but cannot be killed, making your search for the ema with the correct symbols much harder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross the two bridges to reach the second location filled with ema boards<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After passing the first location with the ema boards, you will cross a bridge made of hastily put-together wooden planks and a more elaborate red bridge. It is in this second location where you will find the Blood-Stained Letter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Examining the letter reveals that a previous visitor left an Omamori that protects the wearer against evil. Aside from the fact that the charm is hidden behind an ema, however, there are no other clues pointing to the Omamori\u2019s location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll notice that several ema in the location are copies of each other. Though you can deduce which ema are important using the riddle provided at the start of the puzzle, simply identifying the unique ones is more than enough. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ema that hides the Omamori [Cat] is also unique. It can be located just as you enter the second location, on the first board on the right-hand side (you will have passed it if you made a beeline for the Blood-Stained Letter).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Difference<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

You will immediately notice the differences between the Omamori ema and the regular cat ema. The Omamori ema\u2019s background is more vibrant and features an orange and white colored cat, while the regular ema are uncolored and have a white cat with black spots.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"Silent<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If you happen to be a cat lover, chances are you will have examined the unique cat ema without reading the Blood\u2014Stained Letter. Nevertheless, examining the ema will allow you to flip it around and obtain the Omamori [Cat], which greatly decreases the damage taken while dodging. Considering the amount of dodging you have to do and how easy it is to get overwhelmed by enemy mobs, this Omamori is a great boon during Silent Hill f\u2019s more hectic combat segments<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
