While creator Toby Fox makes <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/how-deltarune-and-undertale-use-manual-story-progression-to-make-you-laugh\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">several Mother\/ Earthbound references<\/a> in the game, he also makes a subtler nod to a Persona 4 song in of one of the final boss themes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"077. ASGORE (UNDERTALE Soundtrack) - Toby Fox\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/42kI2lT0x6U?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>During the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twitch.tv\/videos\/2572456080?t=02h05m13s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNDERTALE 10th Anniversary &#8211; Day 2 stream<\/a>, Fox revealed that the intro melody of Asgore\u2019s theme was heavily inspired by Shoji Meguro\u2019s Persona 4 song \u201cThe Fog.\u201d Considering the latter is one of the songs that plays during the final boss fight, Fox couldn\u2019t have picked a more appropriate track to draw inspiration from. To drive the point home, Fox even mentions that the project file that contains the intro melody was titled \u201cpersona4.flp\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Fog - Persona 4\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GpVOjYty8kk?start=57&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This revelation caught fans by surprise, as it was the first time Fox mentioned the Persona franchise as an inspiration for Undertale. Listening to both songs reveals their similarities, specifically between Asgore\u2019s intro and The Fog\u2019s guitar solo.
