The studio behind the mainline Super Robot Wars <\/strong>franchise has seen big changes recently \u2013 as of March 2025, it was officially renamed from B.B. Studio to Bandai Namco Forge Digitals, with Hirofumi Inagaki taking the helm as CEO and president. The new boss recently talked to Famitsu<\/a> about what fans can expect from the studio’s rebranding and future plans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Inagaki, much like during its B.B. Studio era, Forge Digitals will mainly focus on the Super Robot Wars and Gundam Battle Operation series, continuing collaboration with involved rightsholders. Rather than quantity, the studio will be prioritizing focused development of high-quality titles. They will also be open to contract development, like the work they did for Square Enix on Dragon Quest X: Rise of the Five Tribes Online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Super Robot Wars series has been mostly Japan-centric so far, and this likely won\u2019t be changing much down the line – when asked about overseas expansion, Inagaki he says that while he appreciates overseas players, the company\u2019s primary target remains Japan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other hand, as the \u201cDigitals\u201d in Bandai Namco Forge Digitals alludes to, the studio will also be expanding to other forms of digital content. \u201cBeyond games, we\u2019re involved in producing video for pachinko machines, and we want to branch out into new genres and businesses.\u201d Inagaki says that adapting to accommodate such demands is necessary \u201cfor the studio to survive in the turbulent games industry.\u201d\u00a0To this end, the company is also looking to expand its scale through recruitment of new staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Super Robot Wars Y is out now for PC (Steam<\/a>), Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n
