The theatrical pre-release became the second highest grossing film in Gundam history, and the TV series has established a huge fanbase in Japan through high viewership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/diamond.jp\/articles\/-\/368193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Diamond Online<\/a>, Naohiro Ogata, one of the directors at Bandai Namco Filmworks (BNF), talked about the success the new anime found as a collaboration between BNF\u2019s Studio Sunrise and Studio Khara. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250725-504310001-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50434\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250725-504310001-1.jpg 960w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250725-504310001-1-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250725-504310001-1-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe got an overwhelming amount of positive feedback. Through working on this project with Studio Khara, we were able to reach a new audience that had never been introduced to Gundam, and we were also able to bring back out main target audience \u2013 dormant Gundam fans in their 50s and over.\u201d According to Ogata, the new entry achieved all of the company\u2019s quantitative goals \u201cto the maximum degree,\u201d with exceptionally high TV and streaming platform viewership and strong merchandise revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Trailer #1 (2025)\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/FRgeWZO3Xn4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The whirlwind of Gundam GQuuuuuuX\u2019s success in Japan started with the release of the theatrical version, which grossed 3.58 billion yen (around 24.3 million USD), making it the Gundam series\u2019 second biggest box office hit after Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM. Ogata expressed gratitude towards fans for helping them reach such high numbers, especially considering that the GQuuuuuuX movie was only a recompilation of the TV anime\u2019s early episodes, as opposed to SEED FREEDOM, which was an original movie. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it\u2019s not without its critics, the Gundam GQuuuuuuX anime has received much praise in Japan for the way it attracted new, younger fans to the series while also reigniting the spark among veteran Gundam fans. This phenomenon was even <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/final-fantasy-14s-yoshi-p-says-a-recent-anime-gave-him-a-master-class-in-reconnecting-old-and-new-fans-of-a-series\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">brought up by Naoki Yoshida<\/a>, producer of Final Fantasy XIV.
