Although the company isn\u2019t credited on many of the projects its involved in, Tose is the developer behind a huge list of games dating to the NES era, with some more recent titles including Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII, Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/tales-of-graces-f-remastered-helped-save-japanese-support-studio-tose-from-financial-struggle\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tales of Graces f Remastered<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its financial statement for the nine-month period from September 2024 to May 2025, Tose reported significant revenue growth driven by intensified development activities on multiple major game projects (this comes as a big turnaround compared to the <a href=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/news\/tose-one-of-japans-biggest-outsourcing-game-companies-reports-losses-due-to-games-being-cancelled\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">large-scale losses the company saw<\/a> in the 2023\/2024 fiscal year).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1512\" height=\"848\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1512px) 100vw, 1512px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250712-50007-header.jpg\" alt=\"Tales of Graces f Remastered\" class=\"wp-image-50009\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250712-50007-header.jpg 1512w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250712-50007-header-380x213.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250712-50007-header-768x431.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, Tose says that revenue from the mobile titles it runs has remained mostly flat year-over-year. Rather than pursuing more work in mobile games, the company has decided to prioritize accepting orders for console game development. The reason they cite is \u201cintensifying competition in the mobile market.\u201d &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it depends on the contract, developers of mobile games are paid not only initial development fees, but also fees related to post-launch updates and events. They may even receive revenue-based incentives, which makes live-service mobile games a lucrative deal for contractors (as pointed out by <a href=\"https:\/\/gamebiz.jp\/news\/408935\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GameBiz<\/a>).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, it seems that due to Japan\u2019s mobile market growing saturated, Tose has judged that developing and running mobile game projects may not be as profitable as it used to. In the previous fiscal year, 35.3% of Tose\u2019s revenue came from mobile games.
