The game is developed by Yuke\u2019s and produced by Nobuyuki Okajima, who is known for his long-time production work on Earth Defense Force and the OneChanbara series. In a recent interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.famitsu.com\/article\/202507\/44919\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Famitsu<\/a>, Okajima confessed that he had created the concept for this cyborg-themed hack-and-slash game more than 10 years ago, and that this year, it will finally be ready to see the light of day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"FULL METAL SCHOOLGIRL - Announcement Trailer\" width=\"1160\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-IVtzcKl89k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had a concept for an action game in which cyborg girls with built-in weapons battle it out on my mind for more than 10 years now. There are many anime and movies themed around cyborg characters or characters with built-in weapons, but surprisingly, there weren\u2019t many games like that \u2013 which is how I came up with the idea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Okajima expressed his love towards cyborgs in fiction, citing Cyborg 004, a character from the science-fiction manga <em>Cyborg 009<\/em>, and Talos, from the novel <em>Crusher Joe<\/em>, as some of his favorites. \u201cI\u2019m one of those people who feel deep sadness and admiration [for these types of characters].\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540001.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540001.jpg 960w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540001-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540001-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Okajima admits that he had contemplated turning his concept into a commercial product multiple times, but couldn\u2019t get anything off the ground. However, having had a couple of opportunities to work together with creators from Yuke\u2019s, he started thinking: \u201cMaybe these people could help me create something good out of the idea that has been simmering in my mind for the past 10 years. I explained to them the gist of the game and tried sounding them out about the production \u2013 that\u2019s how everything started.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" src=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540002.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-49656\" srcset=\"https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540002.jpg 960w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540002-380x214.jpg 380w, https:\/\/automaton-media.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/20250702-496540002-768x432.jpg 768w\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The collaboration seems to be a perfect fit, because a lot of the wacky ideas that shaped Full Metal Schoolgirl actually came from Yuke\u2019s creative team, Okajima explains. \u201cI am the producer, so I\u2019m responsible for adjusting the overall direction of the game and making everything feel like coherent. However, my policy is not to share much of my creative ideas even if I do have them.
